If you’re married or have been dating for some time now, it’s easy to run out of ideas and keep the excitement alive. If you want to do something more than just a dinner date, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve put together 21 of the BEST, insanely fun Valentine’s Day date ideas you and your partner can do this Valentine’s Day and beyond to spark that fire again!
This post is all about Valentine’s Day date ideas.
Valentine’s Day Date Ideas
1. Drive-In Movie Date
Go retro this Valentine’s Day by spending the evening at the Drive-In movie theater!
This is absolutely the cutest date night idea and personally one of my favorites. Everyone goes to the regular movies on Valentine’s Day. This is such a fun twist on a movie and dinner date.
Get there early, buy some hotdogs, play games, then tune in to the proper radio station and enjoy an old-time Valentine’s day date night!
2. Take An Online Cooking Class Together
Don’t feel like going out? Stay home and virtually learn how to make homemade pasta together from a REAL Italian!
There are several websites that connect you with people all over the world who will teach you pretty much anything you want to learn in a private one-on-one video call. I love the idea of learning to make pasta from scratch from a real Italian, but you can choose any food or dish you want from anywhere in the world!
Cozymeal is one of many sites that connects you with the right people who can give you a personalized and unforgettable cooking experience. Sign up for a cooking class with a real Italian and learn how to make Italian pasta from scratch in your own home.
I think this is such a fun Valentine’s Day date night idea. Once you’re done with your lesson, spark the romance with some candles, make the table and enjoy your freshly cooked dinner together. Ahhh, so romantic!
3. Go On A Staycation
Do you ever find yourself walking around your city and thinking to yourself how much you should really try a lot of the touristy places around, but never do because it’s always there and OF COURSE you will get to it SOMEDAYYY… Yeah, right…
Well, here’s your opportunity! Plan a staycation in your city! Do all of the things you always wanted to do, and especially book that hotel that is always calling your name. Experience your own city and enjoy it like a tourist with your partner. Don’t forget to take pictures!
4. Go Hiking
For the nature types, hiking is always such a fun outdoor adventure. The thing I love about hiking is it’s a great way to make conversation and spend real quality time together. End the night by going out to dinner.
5. Money-Free Date
Here’s a challenge for you! Don’t spend ANY money. You would be surprised how not spending any money could make the night more memorable and exciting. Take this opportunity to be CREATIVE. Cook up a nice meal, walk around your city, go geocaching, go to a free museum…the options are truly endless.
6. Attend A Dinner Show
Dinner shows can be so much fun! You can go to a comedy, a rodeo, a murder mystery…you’d be surprised how many dinner shows are out there!
7. Ice Skating
Ahhh, nothing says romantic like ice skating together. It’s also just SUPER FUN. When is the last time you went ice skating? It’s one of those things we always enjoy doing, but hardly ever go. It’s okay if you’re not a great ice skater. If your partner is, he can help you or you can both figure it out together. Honestly, it is more fun like that anyway let’s be real. Hah!
8. Do A Selfless Act Together
There is nothing more bonding and rewarding than doing a charitable work for people with your partner.
Me and my husband love creating goody bags for the homeless. We ordered these bags from Amazon that come with 12 drawstring bags, hats, scarves and gloves. Then, we added warm socks, tooth brushes and toothpaste, bandaids, bottled water, chocolate and other snacks like beef jerkey and protein bars, hot cocoa and instant coffee packets and anything else we could think of.
We put them in the backseat of our car and drove into the city and bought a bunch of hamburgers from McDonalds and drove around the city, handing a goody bag and hamburger to any homeless person we could find.
The smile on their faces is EVERYTHING. The fact that someone thought of them, someone SEES them, means everything to them. Honestly, we might have been more blessed by it than they were! The warm feeling you get is just incredible!
Spread the love this Valentine’s Day with a selfless act!
9. Play Board Games
A little friendly competition is always fun. Pull out your favorite board games, order pizza, pop some popcorn and you’ve got yourself a game night.
Here’s a list of 2-player games you can play together:
- Let’s Get Deep – Conversation Cards for Couples
- Codenames: Duet
- Monopoly
- Monopoly BID
- Klask
- 7 Wonders Duel
- Carcassonne
- Ticket To Ride
10. Trampoline Park
Turn up the fun this Valentine’s Day by going to a trampoline park! I recommend eating dinner AFTER the trampoline park. (Your tummy will thank you.)
Trampoline parks are a blast and you can get a good workout too!
11. Indoor Camping
One of me and my husband’s favorite things to do is to set up a tent inside, fill it with blankets and pillows, cute mood lighting and enjoying some snacks and a movie together on our laptop. This is another great idea if you’re a homebody and don’t feel like going out.
12. Rent A Luxury Sport Car
Now with car sharing apps like Turo, you can rent a luxury sport cars for a pretty good price. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still expensive. But you might be able to find a great deal on your dream car! Rent a convertible Mustang or Camaro, a Corvette, Porche, BMW, Maserati…there are so many options!
And of course, you’ll need to go to a fancy restaurant with your fancy car. Dress up and make a night of it!
13. Repeat Your First Date
How sweet would it be to recreate your first date together? Reminisce your first date, maybe it was extremely romantic, or absolutely hilarious. Either way, you should have a great time together down memory lane.
14. Visit A Museum
Get dressed up and visit a local museum in your area that interests both of you. If museums aren’t your thing, visit an art gallery. There is sure to be lots to talk about as you roam the halls and exhibits.
15. Spa Night
Now we’re talking!
Have a relaxing Valentine’s Day at the spa. Get a couples massage or facials together.
If you don’t want to go to the spa, create your own spa experience at home.
Set the mood with candles, rose petals, romantic music and an essential oil diffuser. Cozy up in bathrobes and slippers and pamper yourselves at home. Do a face mask together, exfoliate your hands and feet and of course, give each other a dreamy massage. Fill the bathtub with warm water and a bath bomb or bath salts and take a relaxing bath in the candlelight together.
16. Attend A Dance Class
I think this is SUCH a fun idea!! IF you can convince your man to go! Haha! I always have a hard time getting my husband to dance classes with me, but whenever he does, he does enjoy it!
A ballroom dance class would be so fun and romantic on Valentine’s Day! But I also think going to a hip-hop class would be pretty stinking fun! Choose your genre and go for it! These classes are usually for beginners anyway, so don’t worry if you have two left feet. Chances are, everyone else in the class does too!
17. Have A Take-Out Maraton
Yes, we’ve all been there. Craving 20 places at once and having to make a decision where to eat. Well, don’t choose one, go to all of them!
Spend the night driving around to all your favorite take-out places and try a little something from each one. How fun is that?!
18. Thrift Store Date
Oh yes. That’s right. Go to your local thrift shop with a set amount of money each. You and your partner have to pick each other an entire outfit that they have to wear to dinner after! It can be sexy or it can be hilarious! You choose, but either way you will have a blast doing it.
19. Engage In Some Classic Competition
Reconnect with your inner teenager and have some fun laser tagging, bowling or mini golfing. It can get quite competitive so bring your A game.
