This post is all about how to host a honeybee baby shower.
There are so many reasons to choose a honeybee baby shower theme. It’s perfect for a gender neutral theme if mama doesn’t not know baby’s gender yet. Yellow is also the main color making this theme an all around bright and cheery option which is the perfect combo in my book.
Honeybee is a classic theme that will never go out of style and is super fun to work with on the creative side of things. There are so many cute play on words you can use (“sweet as can bee”, “mommy-to-bee”, a little honey is on the way, and so much more) and it’s even more fun when you get into decor, food and game choices.
If throwing a honeybee baby shower sounds intimidating, there’s no need to worry. My mom and I recently threw a honeybee baby shower for my sister, and it was a total hit. In this post, I will walk you step by step how to throw the cutest honeybee baby shower theme.
This post is all about how to throw a honeybee baby shower.
1. FIRST THINGS FIRST
A date, guest list, and location are the very first things you need to start thinking of when planning a baby shower. It’s great if you can get a general idea for how many guests you will have very early on so you can pick a location that is suitable for the party size you will have.
Once you’ve locked in your date and venue, you can start thinking about invitations.
2. INVITATIONS
There are many different ways you can do invitations for your baby shower.
- Physical invitations
- E-vites
- Facebook Event
Keep in mind, if you are planning on incorporating a diaper raffle in your baby shower, you’ll want to make sure to include the raffle tickets with the invitations when you send them out. (More on this later).
3. DECORATIONS
You don’t need to get too elaborate with the decorations. A backdrop and/or balloons can do wonders! I also LOVE the BABY stackable boxes with fairy lights and balloons inside.
A little teddy bear is also SUPER cute extra touch you can add to the decor, and it can even doubles as a gift for the baby. At my sister’s honeybee baby shower, my mom bought two little bears. One for her existing daughter who is 5 years old, and one for the baby on the way. She custom ordered them with shirts that said “My 1st Little Honey” and “My 2nd Little Honey”.
You’ll also want to create table centerpieces for your honeybee baby shower. Cut up some greenery stems from your local craft store, some fairy lights and battery operated tea candles are a very affordable and cute way to dress the tables.
Here is the exact list of decor items we used:
- Backdrop
- Balloons
- Baby Stack Cubes
- Customized Teddy Bears
- Tablecloth
- Plates
- Napkins
- Paper cups
- Gold plasticware
Pinterest is also full of GREAT ideas.
4. GAMES
I was in charge of games for my sister’s shower, and every single one was a hit. I also had prizes for all of the winners. You can make the prizes as cheap or elaborate as you’d like and have budget for. I made little buckets full of goodies I collected from the Target dollar section and Hobby Lobby.
Games to play:
- Guess How Many Honeycombs
- Baby Word Scramble
- Family Feud
- The Price Is Right
- Diaper Raffle
Guess How Many Honeycombs Are In The Jar
Such a simple but fun game. Just fill a jar with Honeycomb cereal (be sure to count how many pieces you put in the jar), and people will write their answers and place in a separate jar. The host will go through the answer and the closest number wins.
I created these cute printables that you can use for free!

Baby Shower Feud
I purchased this Baby Shower Feud game from Etsy and everyone had a blast playing it. You play it just like Family Feud but it’s all baby related topics. People write down what they think the most popular answer for each prompt is. Very fun!
The Price Is Right
Download The Price Is Right for free here
I created this Price Is Right printable that you can download for free! People got very into this game and were often SHOCKED by the actual price of things! Just purchase each item on the list for the game. People will write down how much they think each item costs and total it all up. Whoever is closest to the final total WITHOUT going over, wins!
Diaper Raffle
I am a HUGE fan of diaper raffles. Diapers are expensive and babies go through A LOT of diapers, often 10 a day! Doing a diaper raffle is a great way to help mama out by offering the guests to bring a pack of diapers (any size) along with their raffle ticket with their name on it. When they drop off the diapers upon arrival, they drop their ticket into a jar. Later on during the party, the host will randomly pick a name from the jar and that winner will get a prize. And mama ends up with LOTS of diapers for baby😊.
Remember to include the raffle tickets in the invitations when you send them out!
5. PARTY FAVORS
For party favors, homemade honey soaps are a SUPER cute and affordable option. Here’s the recipe from Pinterest I used:
I put a honey soap and two honey sticks into a little mesh bag for the party favors and everybody loved it.
Here are some other ideas!
6. FOOD
Last but not least, you’ll need to decide on what types of food you will serve. I love the idea of themed foods.
For dessert, we ordered this beautiful custom beehive cake that matched our theme perfectly. (It was extremely delicious too!)
Here are some other ideas to inspire you with the food.
